Terms of Service

1. About these terms

These terms apply to your use of My Grocery List at mygrocerylist.net (the “Service”). The Service is operated by Jordan Taylor Reynolds, an individual contactable at contact@mygrocerylist.net. References to “we”, “us”, and “our” mean that individual operator. For questions about these terms or for support, contact contact@mygrocerylist.net.

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the Service. Read our Privacy Policy to understand how we handle personal information.

2. The Service

The Service lets you create and manage personal grocery lists, organise items into categories, pin items for future lists, and, if you choose, create or join a shared Home list. It can send account-verification emails and scheduled grocery-list emails to the address configured for delivery.

Scheduled delivery is intended as a convenience, not a guaranteed reminder. Email delivery may be delayed, filtered, unavailable, or sent to an outdated address. Check the Service directly when you need to rely on your list.

After a scheduled personal list email is successfully sent, unpinned items on that personal list are cleared. After a scheduled Home list email is successfully sent to its members, unpinned items on that Home list are cleared. Pinned items remain. Review your list and delivery settings before the scheduled send.

3. Accounts and security

You must provide accurate account information, keep your password confidential, and promptly tell us if you believe someone has accessed your account without permission. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account, except to the extent the law says otherwise.

Use a unique password and do not share your sign-in details. We will never ask you to send your password by email. We may ask you to verify your identity before responding to an account or personal-information request.

4. Acceptable use

You must use the Service lawfully and not:

• misuse, disrupt, probe, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, its accounts, or its systems;
• upload malicious code or use the Service to send unlawful, deceptive, or abusive content;
• impersonate another person or use another person's information without authority; or
• use the Service in a way that infringes another person's rights or interferes with their use of the Service.

You are responsible for the content you enter, including item names, category names, Home names, usernames, and profile images. Do not enter sensitive personal information that is not needed for a grocery list.

5. Shared Home lists

If you create or join a Home, its members can see and change the shared Home list and related Home information available in the Service. Scheduled Home list emails are sent to all current Home members and contain the shared list. Only invite people you intend to share that information with.

The Home creator can manage membership and delete the Home. You can leave a Home, subject to the Service's current controls. Do not put information in a shared Home list that you would not want its members to see.

6. Your content

You keep any rights you have in the content you enter. You give us permission to host, store, display, process, and transmit that content only as reasonably needed to operate, secure, and support the Service, including sharing a Home list with its members and sending requested list emails.

7. Availability and changes

We may update, suspend, or discontinue parts of the Service for maintenance, security, legal, or operational reasons. We will take reasonable steps to provide notice of material changes where practicable. We do not promise that the Service will always be available, error-free, or compatible with every device or email provider.

8. Closing or suspending an account

You may ask us to close your account by emailing contact@mygrocerylist.net from the email address associated with your account. We may ask you to verify your identity. We will handle account closure and deletion requests under applicable law and the Privacy Policy. Some information may need to be retained where required or permitted by law, or for security, backup, or dispute-resolution purposes.

We may suspend or restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect the Service or its users, respond to a legal requirement, or address a serious breach of these terms. Where practicable and lawful, we will explain the reason and give you an opportunity to respond.

9. Liability and consumer rights

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies a consumer guarantee, right, or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under the Australian Consumer Law.

To the extent the law permits, we exclude liability for loss that is not reasonably foreseeable and for loss caused by events outside our reasonable control. This does not limit liability that cannot be limited by law, or your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

The Service is a convenience tool. Keep any information you need independently if losing access to a list would cause you harm or significant inconvenience.

10. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms from time to time. We will publish the current version at mygrocerylist.net/terms-of-service.html and update the effective date above. If a change materially affects your rights or obligations, we will take reasonable steps to notify you before it takes effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the revised terms, to the extent permitted by law. If you do not accept a change, stop using the Service and contact us about closing your account.

11. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia and the laws of Queensland, Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that State or Territory, without limiting any consumer rights that apply where you live.
